    Scope for Winning Equality Awards

Do you know an organisation or individual that’s working hard to achieve disability equality? Then you may be interested in entering them for an award to recognise their good work. You can nominate people and organisations. Disability charity Scope is running the awards with several categories including ones for influencers, journalists, role models, campaigns and accessible products. Nominations for the 2024 awards will close on 6 October 2023.

  • PIP Re-Assessments for Over 65s to Cease

From this Spring over 65s who receive Personal Independence Payments will no longer have to undergo reviews to continue receiving the benefit. • Scope's New Digital Employment Service

Disability organisation Scope has teamed up with Virgin Media in a bid to get a million people into work by 2020. Their Support to Work scheme offers online support to disabled jobseekers via telephone, Skype and text. Employment advisers offer advice on employability skills, writing a CV and interview techniques. Your personal adviser will create a 12-week action plan hopefully designed to help you succeed in the jobs market.

  • Employable Me and Scope Research Recommendations

The BBC2 series Employable Me has returned, following the story of eight jobseekers who have taken part in a scheme which brings together people from across the disability spectrum to help each other with the challenge of finding employment. In a report earlier this year Scope has called for employers to make it clear that adjustments and support are available, to create more senior roles for disabled people and develop peer support opportunities.

Recent Feedback    (We'd love to receive your feedback, please click here to add some)

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
