    Adult Social Care Recruitment Event

    Sheffield City Council and the DWP have partnered to put on an Adult Social Care recruitment event at Sheffield Town Hall on 21st February from 11am to 2pm. Roles include Activities Worker, Care Worker, Personal Assistant, Shared Lives Carer and Advocacy Worker.No qualifications are needed to apply.

    Annual Review of Social Care Complaints

    The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has published its annual review of adult social care complaints for 2021-22. The LGSCO stated that in many of the complaints it dealt with, cost was raised by councils as a justification for failing to provide or limiting care despite their clear duties under the Care Act 2014.

    Sheffield City Council Adult Social Care have collected together a range of information in an effort to support organisations providing care services in Sheffield.As well as a webpage for all the latest news and guidance relating to COVID-19 confidential helplines and apps are available.Sheffield City Council Adult Social Care explain that they “recognise the pressure that you are under as managers and the need you may have to talk things through with someone experienced in social care.”

    Sheffield City Council has released its report into adult social care for 2018 and say that although it has been ‘challenging’ due to a combination of financial cuts and increasing demand they are still making progress. It includes their ‘improvement plan’ for 2018-20.

  • Have Your Say on the Future of Adult Social Care in Sheffield

    In June a number of Sheffield residents and representatives of disabled people’s organisations joined together with the Disability Hub and Disability Sheffield to discuss the difficulties they faced around social care.Because of the delay, including the release of the Government Green paper on long term funding for social care for those above retirement age, the Local Government Association (LGA) is taking a stand and seeking feedback via consultation on all adult social care.At the same time, we would be grateful if participants would please respond to our own consultation and help us identify more readily some of the issues facing disabled people and others here in Sheffield.

    Healthwatch Sheffield, in partnership with Citizens Advice Sheffield and Disability Sheffield has carried out an investigation into the experiences of Deaf people accessing health and social care services in the city.Deaf people’s needs are often disregarded when it comes to provision of health and social care in Sheffield, their new report – entitled Not Equal – has revealed.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
