    LIstening Line Still There for You

    Sheffield Mind’s Listening Line service has expanded its remit and can now offer a listening service to all people over 18 years of age. If you’re feeling anxious about Covid-19 and what happens now, or you have concerns about the vaccine, or you’re experiencing loneliness or isolation and you’d like to talk about it, you can call and speak to a friendly operator who’ll listen and where appropriate, give advice about local services which you might like to approach for support.

    The Get Set to Go team at Sheffield Mind have been busy thinking about how best to stay active and positive during the pandemic.They know that physical active can enhance your mood and have created some tips on how to stay healthy and keep fit. The team offers a Signposting Service if you would like some help to work out what physical activity to do at home or outside. Their latest COVID-secure activity is with Sheffield Wednesday’s Community Programme at Hillsborough Arena if you wish to apply to take part.

    The Ripple Effect

    Sheffield Mind’s ‘The Ripple Effect’ is a bereavement ‘navigation service’ designed to enable people to access emotional and practical support after the loss of a loved one. It provides up to 3 months of one-to-one support and additional group activities in Greenhill, Beauchief and surrounding areas for people experiencing bereavement. The ‘ripple effect’ comes when the newly empowered individual shares their skills and confidence with others in the community.

    Keeping Families In Mind is an innovative new service set up by the Sheffield branch of the mental health charity Mind. It is funded by the Ministry of Defence, and provides therapeutic support to families living in South Yorkshire of serving military personnel.

  • Festival Of The Mind Returns To Sheffield

    The fourth festival, offering more unique views into all aspects of the human brain, takes place from September 20-30 at a variety of venues across the city, as a collaboration between academic experts and creative cultural talent. Among the health-related events taking place is a talk entitled ‘In And Out Of Hospital’, based on the experiences of people with life-limiting conditions. This takes place on the first day of the festival in the specially-erected Spiegeltent on Barkers Pool.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
