Caroline Waugh, a volunteer at Sheffield Cycling 4 All, a project run by Disability Sheffield, can be seen on the screen tonight when her trusty but rusty trike – which she used while carrying the Olympic Torch a decade ago – gets a makeover .Caroline is appearing on BBC2 show Saved And Remade, in which much-loved but unused objects are transformed into new items. A planned BBC2 documentary on hate crime is looking for disabled people who have been the target of it to recount their experiences on camera. The forthcoming programme -made by a disabled filmmaker – also intends to cover the current COVID-19 pandemic and the effect it is having on disabled people.

Channel 4’s Dispatches series is doing a documentary on preventable deaths among people with learning disabilities with the producers wanting to speak to those who have had a bad experience in hospital/a social care setting and families who have lost a loved one with a learning disability
The team creating the documentary are also keen to have people with learning disabilities involved in the filming and production of the programme in paid roles.

Disabled comedians claimed the top two places on national television show Britain’s Got Talent. First prize in the 12th series of the ITV contest went to Lost Voice Guy, alias 37-year-old Lee Ridley, who has cerebral palsy and uses a voice synthesiser to perform his act. He is the first comedian to win the show, beating off the challenge from runner-up Robert White, who has Asperger’s Syndrome.
