  • Health and Care Services #SpeakUp Reports Published

    In 2017, Healthwatch Sheffield launched #SpeakUp Small Grants aimed at local not for profit, third sector, voluntary or community groups, to enable them to run projects that help local people share their experiences of health and care services in Sheffield. DAWS Community Gym held an ‘Ampu Tea & Chat’ session to obtain feedback from service users at Northern General Hospital’s Mobility and Specialised Rehabilitation Centre.

  • New Indoor Games & Sport with Sheffield's Community Disability Gym

    The Disability Awareness with Sport ( D.A.W.S ) community gym is launching a range of indoor games and soft sports sessions starting on Monday 3rd September at South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Centre in Handsworth.

  • DAWS Gives Us All A Sporting Chance

    Disability Awareness With Sport (DAWS) is a non-profit organisation based in south-east Sheffield which aims to make exercise accessible to everyone, especially those who may experience isolation within their community. As well as providing fitness training, provided by a fully-qualified instructor and tailored to individuals’ needs DAWS also organises social get-togethers.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
