    One of Sheffield’s most popular museums has now become more accessible thanks to the installation of a Changing Places toilet. The new addition at Weston Park Museum is funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities with support from Sheffield City Council and in association with Muscular Dystrophy UK.

    Nothing About Us Without Us Exhibition

    Nothing About Us Without Us is a well-known disability rights slogan. It is also the title of a new exhibition at the People’s History Museum in Manchester, that explores how these rights have been fought for over centuries and the activism that has led this march forward. The exhibition opens on Wednesday 16 November at the start of UK Disability History Month and is open until October 2023.

    What Has Covid-19 Prevented You Doing?

    What has Covid-19 stopped you from doing that you would have done before? A call for disabled people’s experiences has been made by the People’s History Museum which is working on a film project about disabled people’s experiences and the virus’s impact on independent living. It would like to share your thoughts and experiences their representatives would like to either interview you or watch you on a home-made video clip. The deadline for submission is 5pm, 12 November, 2020.

  • National Emergency Services Museum Sensory Friendly Days

    The National Emergency Services Museum are working alongside the Autism Centre for Supported Employment to offer opening days suitable for visitors with various sensory needs, starting on World Autism Awareness Day, Tuesday 2nd April and on the first Tuesday of every month. Visitors can borrow their all-new sensory backpacks for their visits and there will be comfy chill out zones on each floor.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
