    #BigPowerOff Protests Becoming Bigger

    A protest against rising energy prices spearheaded by a Sheffield-based group has now taken off nationally, with another #BigPowerOff event due to take place this Saturday 16th April at 7pm. Sheffield City Council has launched a ‘guide’ to getting financial help and advice during the current cost of living crisis with suggestions of what to do if you’re struggling to pay your energy bills.

    DPAC Sheffield In Benefits Uplift Campaign Call

    The Sheffield branch of campaigning organisation Disabled People Against Cuts has produced a survey which can be filled in anonymously by anyone affected by changes to benefits during the Coronavirus pandemic. DPAC Sheffield is protesting about people on legacy benefits not being eligible for the £20 uplift in Universal Credit. A second ‘Day of Action’ will take place on Monday March 1, two days before the Government’s Budget is announced.

    A major disability campaign group is one of the organisers of a day of action fighting plans to scrap the £20 uplift to Universal Credit. Disabled People Against Cuts has teamed up with the Homes For All campaign and People Before Profit to organise the protest, which takes place this Saturday, February 6th.

  • Disabled People Against Cuts - Universal Credit Protest

    The Sheffield branch of Disabled People Against Cuts ( DPAC ) has organised a local demonstration as part of a national day of action against Universal Credit. It will take place outside Sheffield City Hall on Thursday 1 March between noon and 1pm.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
