    New guidance stressing that employers are allowed to reserve jobs for disabled people should help narrow the disability employment gap, say the Disabled People’s Organisations that asked for the legal advice to be published. The guidance, ‘Using Protected Characteristics in Recruitment’ is now available for employers from ACAS.

    Recruitment and Retention of PAs Survey

    Do you employ your own Personal Assistants (PAs), carers or support workers? If so please can you complete this short survey by the Local Government Association about the recruitment and retention of PAs. It has been designed by people who employ PAs, for people who employ PAs.     Our lovely Advocacy Manager Lucy has a new job as Chief Officer for Healthwatch Sheffield. We are therefore looking to recruit a new advocacy manager. Our advocacy service supports disabled people to exercise their rights and be fully involved in decisions about their life. The Advocacy Manager is responsible for supporting and supervising the advocacy team, which delivers a range of advocacy (statutory and non-statutory) support as part of Sheffield Advocacy Hub.The closing date for applications is 8am on Monday 15th July 2019. When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
