You may be wondering whether restrictions on visiting care homes can be eased now that official figures have just confirmed that the NHS has offered the COVID-19 vaccine to residents at every eligible care home with older residents across England. Even if you or the person you’re visiting have had your COVID-19 vaccination, you must still follow guidance to keep yourself, your loved ones and the other people living and working in the care home as safe as possible.

Do you have a family member or friend living in a care home ? Is access improving? Is family contact becoming more meaningful and appropriate? If not, where do the problems lie? Healthwatch Sheffield, Disability Sheffield, Sheffield Carers Centre and Age UK Sheffield are all supporting a survey by John’s Campaign, which wants to make sure that people can visit relatives in care homes safely. This survey can help Healthwatch Sheffield see what visiting is like for you, and whether more needs to be done to support you and your relative or friend to have meaningful contact. The closing date for the survey is 30th November 2020.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals ( STH ) is evaluating their visiting hours and running a survey to collect the views of inpatients and visitors. STH moved from set visiting hours to flexible visiting between 8am to 8pm last year, and want to find out how this has affected patients and their visitors.
