Call for your Taxi Experiences for Policy Review

Have you tried to book a taxi lately? After our appearance on Look North on 13 April we are keen to respond to Sheffield City Council’s consultation on its draft Private Hire Operator and Vehicle Licence Policy. So we are looking to hear from you before 6 May about your recent stories – your experiences, both good and bad – of using taxis in Sheffield if you would like to share your views with us to include as evidence in our consultation response.

  • Our Halo Code Commitment

    Our Halo Code Commitment

We are pleased to announce that Disability Sheffield has adopted the Halo Code to prevent race-based hair discrimination in our workplace. Race-based hair discrimination is where Black people are told their hair textures and hairstyles are inappropriate, unattractive, and unprofessional due to racist attitudes. We want to to ensure no members of our team, both employees and volunteers, are ever made to feel ashamed or excluded due to their hair.

Help the Policy Lab to Gain Insight Into Life As A Disabled Person

The Civil Service is looking for volunteers to take part in major research into the everyday lived experience of individual disabled people. The Policy Lab, based in the Cabinet Office, is looking for people who have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities. Your input will help policy makers in the Civil Service to better understand the people they are trying to reach. High Street Vouchers are provided to all research participants.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
