    DWP to Improve Services for Deaf Claimants

    The Department for Work and Pensions has entered into a legal agreement with the Equality and Human Rights Commission to improve their provision for deaf claimants who contact them by telephone. The DWP has committed to an action plan to address problems complainants identified. The EHRC will monitor the action plan on a monthly basis to ensure the agreed steps have been completed.

  • Lack Of Action On Rights Disappoints EHRC

    The Equality and Human Rights Commission has said it is ‘disappointed’ by the UK Government’s failure to improve disability rights following damning assessments from the United Nations. A report by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities gave details of the Government’s failures to protect disabled people’s rights across many areas of life in the UK in August 2017. They were asked to report back on progress on a number of areas one year on.
