Campaign against Cuts to Disability Benefits

Campaign against Cuts to Disability Benefits

Ongoing speculation about Government cuts to disability benefits are worrying many disabled people. The Government are due to outline their proposals in March 2025.

If you feel that cutting disability benefits would be catastrophic you can add your name to Scope’s campaign

Disability Rights UK is highlighting a new research report urging the Government to prioritise improving access to disability benefits for those whose quality of life depends on this support. This new report finds that disability benefits provide a boost to the economy and can fuel economic growth.

“Disabled people have a human right to social security support to avoid poverty and to be able to live independently regardless of whether they are or can be economically active’.
They should not have to compelled to be economically active by sanctions and benefit cuts but enabled and supported to seek work if on a voluntary basis. The health and wellbeing of Disabled people must be protected and enhanced, not sacrificed to the alter of ill-founded and savage cuts.”

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
