This briefing paper by the Institute for Public Policy Research examines the impact of the pandemic, following decades of increasing regional inequalities, on the lives of disabled people across the north of England.Their conclusions emphasise that now is the time for policymakers to act and ensure that disabled people have equal access to opportunity across the North and the rest of the UK.

Action group Disabled People Against Cuts is inviting you to to make a big noise about the £20 cut to Universal Credit coming in September and the reintroduction of sanctions and conditionality returning in October in its latest protest against Government policies under the hashtag @AudioRiot. The planned protest will be at Westminster on Tuesday September 28th, but local branches , like DPAC Sheffield will also be taking part in a nationwide version on the Saturday September 25th.

A new specialist service in Sheffield aiming at helping patients suffering with the long-term effects of Covid-19 has been shortlisted for a national Health Service Journal Patient Safety Award. Disability groups in West Yorkshire have called for people to continue wearing masks to help protect those who are particularly vulnerable to Coronavirus. Calderdale Covid-19 Disability Advisory Group are asking the Mayor of West Yorkshire and Calderdale Council to provide all public services in as safe a way as possible, improve ventilation and mask wearing ( except for exemptions )on all public transport and encourage the continuation of optional working from home.
