Do you know any young carers who are isolated and in need of a break? If so, the Young Carers Activity Fund could help.As well as individual and group grants of £300, organisations can also apply for £20 e-vouchers for young carers. Young carers can use the vouchers to buy whatever they like to help relieve some of the boredom and stress of caring.There is no closing date for the vouchers, which will be allocated until the funding is gone.

Today sees the launch of Sheffield’s new ‘Worrying About Money?’ leaflet to help people experiencing financial insecurity, and those supporting them, to easily identify and access appropriate financial support and advice. By helping people access any existing financial entitlements and advice,the hope is to reduce the need for emergency food aid.

A fun and friendly group which organises leisure events for disabled people has restarted and there are hopes for expansion once Covid-19 regulations loosen up. The ‘Leisure Time’ sessions take place at Concord Sports Centre” on Friday mornings from 10.30-12.30 and costs £3.00 (carers free ).

Anyone providing unpaid care and support to an adult with a disability or long term impairment, including a learning disability and/or autistim, living in a different household, can now obtain free PPE from one of the seven main family centres in the city. The packs contain: face masks, shields, aprons and gloves.This provision is in line with updated government guidance which includes information on washing hands, use of PPE, and respiratory hygiene.

Autistic job seekers are among the most disadvantaged, with just 22% of people with autism in full-time paid employment, the lowest of all disabled groups. The charities Ambitious about Autism and The Autism Education Trust have launched their Transition to Employment Toolkit to support disadvantaged autistic young people into the job market, following the Coronavirus pandemic.
