The National Trust at Longshaw ,on the south west outskirts of Sheffield ,are applying for a Veolia grant to fund a new accessible woodland path. The existing route from the main car park to the visitor facilities (café, toilets, main visitor area etc.) is linear, so by creating a new route that meanders through woodland, the Trust hope to make an accessible and attractive circular walk linking their main car park and the visitor hub around the cafe. It will provide opportunities for exploration without having to travel too far physically and will bring people closer to nature in the woodland habitat. It will also lead visitors to a presently undervalued interpretive feature of the original Lodge, the Ice House.
