National Trust Seeks Your Support to Create an Accessible Woodland Path at Longshaw

The National Trust at Longshaw ,on the south west outskirts of Sheffield ,are applying for a Veolia grant to fund a new accessible woodland path. The existing route from the main car park to the visitor facilities (café, toilets, main visitor area etc.) is linear, so by creating a new route that meanders through woodland, the Trust hope to make an accessible and attractive circular walk linking their main car park and the visitor hub around the cafe. It will provide opportunities for exploration without having to travel too far physically and will bring people closer to nature in the woodland habitat. It will also lead visitors to a presently undervalued interpretive feature of the original Lodge, the Ice House.

Could you help support their funding application by completing a short online survey about the benefit of accessible countryside paths. You can view a rough map showing the route of the proposed path here. If, in addition, you would be happy to write a letter or email in support of their application please use this template form . If you have any queries, please get in touch with the project manager, Helen Armstrong on 07767 338 982 or 01433 631 757 or e mail helen.armstrong@nationaltrust.org.uk

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
