Keeping Physically Active at Home

Our Coronavirus information and support page contains tips for disabled people to continue exercising. Just click on the Physical Health and Exercise link at the top of the page.

Currently this includes:

Get Yourself Active
Resources for disabled people to keep exercising through the Coronavirus crisis. First up, some chair-based work outs: http://www.getyourselfactive.org/stories/get-yourself-active-at-home/

You can share how you’re exercising at home on social media with the hashtag #getactiveathome.

SIV Home Workouts
Unfortunately due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, all Sheffield International Venues (SIV) are closed; meaning the Exercise Referral Scheme has been postponed.

SIV has produced a range of FREE, short, tailored and motivating home workouts designed by experienced exercise referral instructors for people who would benefit from being active at home, but need support and consideration because of a health condition or just a long period of inactivity.

10 Today
Short ten minute routines to get older people stretching and moving, broadcast on the radio and online.

The Guardian newspaper has an article entitled How to make a home gym from household items while self-isolating

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference
