Disability Sheffield’s learning disability self advocacy group Sheffield Voices and the University of Sheffield are hosting an event about hospitalisation and delayed discharge of people with learning disabilities and autistic people ,the impact it has on their life and those who care about them. It is aimed at people with learning disabilities and autistic people and the larger population to bring people together to talk about and understand this topic. The event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Sciences.

A short co-produced film (15 minutes) will be shown at the event which has been led by people with lived experience of long-stay hospitals either through their own admission or admission of people they care for who want to share their stories. This will be followed by discussions with experts by experience, professionals and researchers.
Before the film, we will have an interactive space with stalls from organisations working with people with learning disabilities and autistic people and some fun activities.
