  • 'Our Country's Good' - Disability Friendly Theatre comes to Sheffield

    This innovative touring production in Sheffield from 12th May – 19th May, has been produced with Ramps on the Moon, an organisation working towards the inclusion and integration of Deaf and disabled individuals in the UK theatre. It features creative use of audio description, signing and captions.

  • PIP Assessments To Be Recorded

    Following a report by the House of Commons Work and Pensions Select Committee, the government intends to make recording the PIP assessment a standard part of the process and is exploring potential options to test the recording of assessments, including video recording.

  • Disabled people lose legal aid in 99% of benefits disputes

    The extent to which government cuts have deprived disabled people of legal aid in disputes over their benefit payments is revealed in new official figures that show a 99% decline since 2011. As a result disabled people are now in “a weaker position to challenge inaccuracy and poor decision-making within government welfare systems.”

  • Scope's New Digital Employment Service

    Disability organisation Scope has teamed up with Virgin Media in a bid to get a million people into work by 2020. Their Support to Work scheme offers online support to disabled jobseekers via telephone, Skype and text. Employment advisers offer advice on employability skills, writing a CV and interview techniques. Your personal adviser will create a 12-week action plan hopefully designed to help you succeed in the jobs market.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
