Asperger’s Children & Carers Together (ACCT) have relaunched their fortnightly Young Adults Group ‘ACCTing Out’for over 18s. The group aims to provide support and social opportunities, as well as develop life, social and communication skills. Upcoming events are announced for February and March.

The Launchpad project, designed to help adults with learning disabilities and/or autism develop skills in drama and performance, is back and looking for new recruits. Organised by Sheffield Theatres, it gives participants the opportunity to work with professionals to develop their performance skills in weekly workshops building skills in areas such as improvisation, storytelling and movement , working together to create a performance for the Crucible Studio theatre. The deadline for applications is Friday 21 February.

To commemorate the Holocaust Sheffield is holding a candlelit vigil on Monday 27 January 2020 from 5.45 to 7pm in the Winter Garden. The theme this year is Stand Together and will focus on how genocidal regimes throughout history have deliberately fractured societies by marginalising certain groups. A selection of short films will be screened in the Winter Garden during the day, from 12noon to 4.30pm ( pop in anytime ) and a collection of posters are on display in the Winter Gardens from 20th – 27th January.

Sheffield City Council, NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group and Sheffield’s Parent Carer Forum have worked together to draft a SEND Inclusion strategy to describe how we, as a city, improve how we meet the needs of our children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and they want to know what you think about it.
