Compassionate Sheffield and Space to Breathe are pleased to announce the launch of their new, online bereavement peer support group, called “Compassionate Space”. This space will offer the opportunity for conversation and ongoing connection, friendship and peer support.

Homes Not Hospitals

Disability Hate Crime Research

United Response has partnered with the Motability Foundation on a research project, focusing specifically on the lived experience of disabled people who have been victims of disability hate crime on public transport. A team of disabled researchers has come together to create a first-of-its-kind survey to generate new insights into the issue.

Trans Pennine Trail Access Improvements

The TPT has shared their latest report with us ‘Breaking Down Barriers : Enhancing Accessibility’. It discusses their collaboration with the Disabled Ramblers and showcases some of the recent improvements that have taken place such as on the Five Weirs Walk, to eliminate obstacles and create more accessible routes.

New Pods for Changing Places
23 September 2024
Four new Changing Places pods have been built around the city to help make Sheffield accessible for more residents. The new facilities can be found at Hillsborough Park, Millhouses Park, Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre and Weston Park Museum.

Opportunity to feedback on 're-powered' bus

On Tuesday the 24th of September there is a chance to explore and give feedback on the accessibility of a bus retrofitted with electric motors and batteries that replace the diesel engine. This will change the interior layout and finding out what effects this has on disabled people is an encouraging opportunity to raise any challenges whilst the bus is static and “Not in Service”.
