A doctoral student looking into the ‘gig economy’ and how it affects disabled people in the jobs market is looking for interviewees to help with her project. Ioana Cerasella Chis, who is in the first year of a PhD at Birmingham’s politics department wants to speak to disabled, neurodiverse and/or chronically ill people who are on zero-hours, fixed-term or seasonal contracts.All participants will be paid in line with the Real Living Wage for their help.

Disability Sheffield has been working in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University and University of York to continue the development of their research project, Workplace Personal Assistants (WPA). We are keen to work with employers to develop a policy/guidance that can be adapted for each workplace and easily adopted by businesses to ensure that all aspects of having WPAs are considered.

The Yorkshire and Humber office of the charity Just Different, set up to provide meaningful paid employment opportunities for disabled adults, is searching for workshop presenters on a self-employed basis. This will involve going to schools, businesses and community groups and talking about difference in a way that encourages acceptance, tolerance and understanding.

Their Support to Work scheme offers online support to disabled jobseekers via telephone, Skype and text. Employment advisers offer advice on employability skills, writing a CV and interview techniques. Your personal adviser will create a 12-week action plan hopefully designed to help you succeed in the jobs market.
