Healthwatch Sheffield has been publishing the findings from their #SpeakUp small grants scheme, where local voluntary and community groups speak to the people they work with about their experiences with health and care services. Reports in November and December include the Burton St Foundation, Luv2MeetYou , Asperger’s Children and Carers Together, Autism Hope and Sheffield Voices, Disability Sheffield’s learning disability group.

Healthwatch Sheffield also conducted a survey from late May to late July to find out how changes in Health and Social Care services caused by the pandemic affected local people, and the way they access support and have recently published their findings.

Healthwatch Sheffield want to understand more about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on local people and their care and support and are asking you to complete their survey. Their findings will help local decision makers decide how to improve services in the future.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak Healthwatch Sheffield cannot visit care homes to hear from residents directly , but it’s more important than ever that they hear about people’s experience of living in residential or nursing care.
If you or a relative live in a care home, or if you work in one, Healthwatch Sheffield would like to hear from you and will then share good practice and raise issues with Sheffield City Council, as well as various boards and committees across the city to make sure your voice has an impact.

Healthwatch Sheffield are working with researchers from the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) to recruit people for a Public Involvement in Research Group (PIRG).Group members will meet virtually or face to face and regularly review ongoing research, new applications for grants and the development of new ideas and products that aim to help people to move more and improve their wellbeing.
