    Although female life expectancy is higher than men in the UK, women on average spend less of their life in good health compared with men. Less is known about conditions that only affect women and women are diagnosed late or their conditions are overlooked. The government want to hear from as many women as possible from all ages and backgrounds about what you think works well and what needs to change.

    Shielding To End For Clinically Vulnerable People

    Over 3.79 million clinically extremely vulnerable people in England are being informed that they are no longer advised to shield to protect themselves from Coronavirus from Thursday April 1st. However they are being advised to continue taking extra precautions, even as infection rates fall. More than nine out of ten people on this list have now been vaccinated with a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

    More than 500 disabled and elderly people may have had their human rights breached during the coronavirus pandemic with the imposition of Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR) orders on them without their permission. Research by the Care Quality Commission said doctors has assumed that elderly and disabled people were not capable of discussing how they should be treated amid fears that Covid cases would overwhelm the NHS.

    Try Out a Trike With This Super Loan Scheme

    Do you fancy cycling but think you would find two wheels a bit precarious? Trikes are available from Sheffield Cycling 4 All for a loan of up to three months and the first people to take advantage of the scheme have given their verdicts. SC4A is also campaigning for better infrastructure to make cycling more accessible and asking anyone who borrows a trike to take photos of inaccessible spots, which will then be forwarded to Sheffield City Council.

    Do you have a set of spare leg splints? If so they could be used as props in a forthcoming play. Kate Martinwood, an actress based in Sheffield, has received Arts Council funding to research and develop ‘Life Of Ryan’, a comedy with a strong element of dance with performers including a professional disabled dancer and three non-disabled actors all of whom are locally based. Kate is a carer herself to her disabled son Ryan.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
