Call For Action Over Unsafe Housing

An organisation which calls for rules to protect disabled people who are living in potentially unsafe housing conditions is urging them to write to their MPs to help ensure better evacuation plans. Claddag advocates for disabled people caught up in the building safety scandal, which came to light after the tragic events at Grenfell Tower.

Free Legal Advice from Sheffield's Universities

If you need legal advice or help but are unable to afford it, you may like to be aware that both Sheffield’s universities have departments that can offer support for free with various legal issues. These are also known as ‘pro bono’ services after a Latin term meaning “for the good of the public”.

Sensory Vaccination Clinic Date for Teenagers

The Prime Minister has announced an end to all remaining Covid restrictions in England, including the legal requirement to self-isolate. Some changes will come into effect on 24 April, others not until 1 April.Disability Rights UK has stated that the ‘removal of restrictions without consideration of those still at risk is genuinely horrifying’.

Free Domestic Abuse App

The Bright Sky app looks like a weather app when you click on it, but there is a hidden side to the app where you can keep a log of abuse including voice recordings and photos. If you decide to press charges in the future, this log can also be used in evidence. The app has also got helpful information, definitions of abuse, advice and signposting.

Dementia Carers Groups

If you care for or support a person living with dementia a number of free carer group sessions to support you are available across the city, running for 12 weeks.The first 6 weeks explore dementia, giving carers/supporters a greater understanding of the impact dementia can have on the person they care for. The final 6 weeks look at how to support yourself as a carer of someone living with dementia.
