Dementia Carers Groups

If you care for or support a person living with dementia a number of free carer group sessions to support you are available across the city.

The following groups run for 12 weeks.The first 6 weeks explore dementia, giving carers/supporters a greater understanding of the impact dementia can have on the person they care for. The final 6 weeks look at how to support yourself as a carer of someone living with dementia.

Carer Group Sessions

Heeley City Farm carers group delivered every week 6.30-7.30pm Mondays starting 21st February, delivered online. Focussing on young onset dementia. Call Lee on 0114 258 0482

*SOAR*- Fir Vale Carers group- delivered every 2 weeks on Tuesdays, starting on Tuesday 11th January 2-3pm. Venue: The HUB, Firth Park Methodist Church. Call Rosie on 07538 100 375.

Parson Cross Carers group delivered every week 12.30-1.30pm on Thursdays starting 20th January, delivered online. Call Rosie on 07538 100 375.

Darnall carers group delivered every week 2-3pm on Thursdays starting 20th January, delivered online. Some language support is offered. Call Jo on 07495 548929

Zest carers group delivered every week 2-3pm on Fridays starting 21st January delivered online. Call Sarah on 07572 643207

Manor and Castle carers group delivered every week 6.30-7.30pm on Thursdays starting February 10th delivered online call Nigel on 07918 054 103

Woodhouse Forum carers group delivered every week 2-3pm on Mondays starting 28th February delivered hopefully face to face, Beighton Miners Welfare. Call Lesley on 07586 823707

Age UK Sheffield carers group delivered online initially and then in person at Centre in the Park in Norfolk park every week starting 11th March 3.30-4.30. Call Jo on 0114 250 2850.

What carers who attended previous sessions said:

  • 100% of carers felt the sessions about dementia helped them understand dementia better.
  • 94% of carers felt the sessions improved their wellbeing.
  • 99% felt that the sessions made them feel supported as a carer.
