Disability Sheffield has joined with over one hundred social care sector organisations by signing an open letter to Ministers criticising the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill.The letter puts on public record serious concerns about the content, progress and passage of the Bill saying the reforms pose a real threat to the human rights of people requiring the greatest support in life.

A Sheffield organisation which supports relatives of adults with learning disabilities or autism has launched a petition calling for all employed carers to be paid the living wage.
Families Lobbying And Advising Sheffield hopes to be able to gain the 10,000 signatures required for the petition to be responded to by the Government then the 100,000 for it to be discussed in Parliament.

Guide Dogs has issued a reminder has issued a reminder about the right to ride with your guide dog in taxis after a blind BBC journalist won a discrimination case recently.The Equality Act 2010 states that taxi and minicab drivers must carry assistance dogs unless they have genuine health reasons not to do so and have a certificate of proof.

Disability Sheffield and the Disability Hub were represented at the Holocaust Memorial Day on the 28 January by Debbie Sunday. Debbie composed and recited a moving piece, questioning how we support those displaced by genocide and war in making a new home. The theme of the Memorial Day this year was Torn from Home.
