Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Grant

Sheffield City Council has received a Local Authority Emergency Assistance Grant from the government through DEFRA intended to be spent within this financial year to support the people of Sheffield through these difficult times. You can apply for a Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Grant if you live in Sheffield and you are having difficulties paying for food and other essentials due to Covid-19. Find out how to apply.

Short-term Care for Older People Survey Analysis

Sheffield City Council launched an online survey in July 2020 asking for residents’ views about short-term care for older people. Respondents indicated their priorities and suggestions for short term care including ideas such as coastal respite opportunities for person and carer, personalised outcome based breaks, and morning and evening respite options.

Call for Videos for Carers Rights Day

The theme for Carers Rights Day 2020 on Thursday 26 November is ‘Know Your Rights. Sheffield Young Carers and Sheffield Carers Centre are working together to make a series of campaign videos to mark Carers Rights Day. They want carers to understand they are not alone and that every carer has rights which can help to make their lives easier. They’d love your help so are asking carers to make a short video and send it to them by Friday 6th November.

South Yorkshire Moves to 'Very High' Covid-19 Alert Level

Creativity In Lockdown Exhibition

Artists with learning disabilities and autism from South Yorkshire based arts organisation Artworks have organised a virtual gallery showcasing the artworks they have created whilst shielding during lockdown. There are 70 artists involved and pieces vary in style and medium, including both two and three-dimensional work.

Are you Affected by Town Centre Changes ?

Has your town or city centre been changed due to the coronavirus crisis and has this limited or affected your ability to access shops or services in any way? Activist group Disabled People Against Cuts is compiling a dossier that they hope to present to local authorities to encourage them to not make alterations that adversely affect disabled people.

'Grab and Go' Goes Online This Week

Speakup are raising awareness about the new Covid 19 Grab and Go sheet this week. If you have a learning disability or autism and need to go into hospital because of Coronavirus the Grab and Go sheet gives the information doctors and nurses need. Book a Grab and Go session on Zoom taking place every day this week from 11am to 12 noon.

Disability Pride Event Calls for Videos

Disabled People Against Cuts is planning an event to celebrate the International Day Of People With Disabilities on 3 December . It’s called ‘From Relaxation to Resistance – a Celebration of our Lives in Lockdown’. DPAC is inviting you to send them short videos of 2-4 minutes of any creative work howing what you’ve been doing over the last 6-7 months. Please send your work by mid November at the latest

Get Yourself Active Video Pilots

For the past few months Get Yourself Active has been undertaking research with the aim of finding out the experiences of disabled people around getting physically active during the Covid-19 outbreak.
