Being a Good Employer Training Modules

Do you employ your own Personal Assistants or Carers but want more skills and knowledge to boost your confidence as an employer? Or are you looking to hire them but don’t know where to start? Then our free courses are for you! Our training on ‘Being a Good Employer’ for individual employers is split into three modules. You can attend all three or any you feel necessary for yourself. The first module on Advertising and Recruiting takes place on Monday 24 September.

Researchers from the University of Sheffield are holding a number of workshops to hear your views on ‘The ideal urgent and emergency care system.’ Refreshments and a light lunch or dinner will be provided and you will also receive a £30 high-street shopping voucher if you attend a workshop.

Have Your Say on the Future of Adult Social Care in Sheffield

In June a number of Sheffield residents and representatives of disabled people’s organisations joined together with the Disability Hub and Disability Sheffield to discuss the difficulties they faced around social care.Because of the delay, including the release of the Government Green paper on long term funding for social care for those above retirement age, the Local Government Association (LGA) is taking a stand and seeking feedback via consultation on all adult social care.At the same time, we would be grateful if participants would please respond to our own consultation and help us identify more readily some of the issues facing disabled people and others here in Sheffield.

Festival Of The Mind Returns To Sheffield

The fourth festival, offering more unique views into all aspects of the human brain, takes place from September 20-30 at a variety of venues across the city, as a collaboration between academic experts and creative cultural talent. Among the health-related events taking place is a talk entitled ‘In And Out Of Hospital’, based on the experiences of people with life-limiting conditions. This takes place on the first day of the festival in the specially-erected Spiegeltent on Barkers Pool.

Free Personal Development Programme At Sheffield College

Sheffield College and the Prince’s Trust are offering this free programme to 16 to 25-year-olds who are neither in work or full-time education but would like the chance to gain new skills, work towards gaining qualifications and build their confidence. The course starts on 24th September 2018 with further intakes in January and May 2019.
