Sheffield City Council has issued a warning about reports of individuals claiming to be Council Officers and asking for cash payments. Always check the ID of anyone claiming to be a Council Officer before you let anyone in and report any concerns or suspicions you have.

They are about to launch a project called Right to Participate, which aims to increase awareness of the Equality Act, especially the ways it can protect disabled people from discrimination in everyday situations.

Are you aware of the Sheffield International Venues ( SIV ) One+Plus One scheme. The scheme provides free access for a carer, family member, support worker or friend for anyone requiring support to part in leisure opportunities. SIV has told us that over 100 people have benefited from the scheme over the past year, with over 6,000 attendances and are keen to make sure that people know about and use the scheme.

In late 2017, the disabled community representatives of Sheffield-based Partners for Inclusion (PfI)commissioned a small-scale piece of research in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University. The project has produced its report which explores the voices and experiences of disabled people in the local Sheffield area who are growing older.
