Following a review and sign off by the Secretary of State, Social Work England has just published the final versions of their rules and standards, which will form the basis of regulation when they take over from the Health and Care Professions Council on 02 December.

Operated by independent charity Valley Leisure Ltd, ‘I Can’ provides a “unique movement and exercise experience” designed to mobilise muscles and joints throughout their natural range of movement. The Centre features a circuit of eight specially adapted power assisted exercise equipment machines and one therapy bike – for people of all ages who may be inactive, disabled or living with a long term health condition.

Many of you will know that as well as the seven individual hubs that advise the Council, the Equality Hub Network also runs a number of intersectional/ cross-hub working groups which aim to get to grips with issues of common concern in the city. The Health Working Group meets quarterly and is in need of some new members, particularly as this is a major priority for nearly all the hubs and an extremely important area of work for the Council and city partners.

Air pollution contributes to 500 deaths a year in Sheffield, causing strokes, lung cancer and cardiovascular disease.Sheffield City Council is consulting on plans to reduce air pollution and would like your help to shape what these plans are through their Clean Air Zone Consultation, which aims to improve air quality in the city by 2021.

Do you throw much food away? Each year, the UK wastes 5 million tonnes of edible food and drink – enough to fill nine Wembley Stadiums or 4,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools. So during this month a campaign has been set up to encourage people to cut down on this. The campaign is entitled Love Your Leftovers and includes a downloadable pack (with handy statistics and resources) and a food waste diary.
