Campaigning organisation Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) is looking for examples of people being blocked from social media site Facebook because of their disability, following a row over pictures of a wheelchair-using model being banned and a telephone conversation in which an employee suggested that pictures of disabled people are ‘disturbing’.

The 2019 State of Caring survey is now open and Carers UK are keen to make sure this year’s report reflects the diversity of carers across the UK and their caring experiences. There’s still a few weeks to go until it closes on 24th May 2019 but at this stage response numbers from LGBT and Black and Minority Ethnic carers are lower than they would like.

Sheffield Health And Social Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking for volunteers to help with their work in treating patients who need in-depth support. The Trust, which provides a range of help for people with long-term physical and medical problems, is particularly looking for people with long-term neurological conditions to take part in work with the Neuro Enablement Service, the Neuro Case Management Service and Sheffield Community Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team.

Healthwatch Sheffield, in partnership with SAYiT and Transactive have published a report detailing the experiences of health and care in Sheffield’s trans community. The report details a range of issues including waiting times, fear of stigma and a lack of awareness of gender identity within health and care settings.

This year the Department of health and Social Care, working with the Department for Education, will review the ‘Think Autism’ strategy and extend it to cover children as well as adults. They are asking for the views of people with autism, their families and carers to find out where improvements can be made. The consultation closes on 16 May.

Walking for Purpose has launched its 8th block of walks which started on 3rd April and will run until 5th June 2019 delivering the project in Firvale and Stocksbridge for the first time offering jobseekers the opportunity to gain valuable skills and training that employers want, whilst being active with a gentle walk.

Disabled people in South Yorkshire are hoping to hold the first festival of its kind in the UK next summer – and are hoping for financial support to make their dream come true.No Limits, scheduled to take place in Barnsley from 4-12 July 2020, will celebrate the contribution disabled people make to life in our towns, neighbourhoods and communities.To raise funds Jamie Preece ( pictured ) a member and volunteer at Sheffield Cycling 4 all, will be cycling along the Trans Pennine Trail for 18 miles on June 7 and 8 this year as part of a Sponsored Walk, joining over 100 other disabled people of all ages and impairments.
