Our self advocacy group, Sheffield Voices , is out and about in the community over the next few months hosting ‘You Speak We Listen’ events.
They want to bring together as many people as possible who identify with having a learning disability and people who identify with being Autistic, to come along and share your stories about what your lives look like and what changes you think services need to be making.
Each month they will be holding an event in different parts of Sheffield – in the South East, the North East, the South West and the North West of Sheffield.
The first ‘You Speak We Listen’ event is at Westfield School on 24th October from 10am – 12.30pm. View Poster
Sheffield Voices Manager, Kathryn Littlewood says:
“We want people who live in care homes, supported living to come. We want people who attend day services and those who might be in respite to come. We want to include everyone!
We are then going to hold bigger events in the Town Hall called Big Voice events. We will invite some of you who come along to the You Speak, We Listen community events to join us at the Town Hall and tell services what people have been talking about in the community.
We hope that you can come along and join in the fun!
