A charity aimed at helping people in poverty is urging and aiding people to write to their MP about the rising cost of living .
turn2us, a national charity that helps people in financial hardship to gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and support services, is hoping that if enough people do so it will put pressure on the Government to do more to help.
They say: “We are currently facing a national cost of living crisis. With food and energy prices rising astronomically, many of us no longer face a choice between heating and eating, but not being able to afford either.
“As energy costs continue to rise, the Government and our new Prime Minister need to do more – so that everyone can afford the essentials. By writing to your MP, you can let them know how we as local constituents are being impacted and urge them to act.”
They add that MPs respond best to messages that are personal, so their form asks questions to help craft an email. It also asks people what their postcodes are and with that information will tell them who their MP is. You can see the form here. Their website also has a section on how to get support and a section on Energy Costs.
