Workshop On 'Universal Discredit' System.

Workshop On 'Universal Discredit' System.

Disabled people are among the marginalised groups invited to take part in an online workshop on how to improve the ‘broken’ social security system.

Unite The Union has set up the workshop, on Zoom on *Thursday 8 October , between 2-4.30pm. It is a follow-up to a day of action held in July but they are hoping for new opinions and have extended the invite to disabled people’s groups and individuals.

DPAC Sheffield, the local branch of national campaigning organisation Disabled People Against Cuts, is offering its support in the form of a video by the organisation’s Jen Jones.

The organisers say: “Our social security system is broken. Unite Community is campaigning for a decent social security system which allows everyone to live with dignity.

We invite you to join us to plan what’s next for the campaign. If you claim benefits yourself, if you know people who do, or simply if you want to live in a society where we treat each other with respect, not punish people for being poor – then we want you with us.”

If you want to take part here are the details of how to sign up.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
