Wheelchair Skills Workshops For Youngsters

Wheelchair Skills Workshops For Youngsters

Learning how to use a wheelchair can be difficult but the charity Go Kids Go are running training sessions in Sheffield next month to help youngsters learn all the skills they need.

It has been running these sessions since 1990; enabling independence and helping to ensure that the young people are able to reach their full potential. They also run disability/wheelchair awareness workshops in mainstream schools for pupils and staff.

Go Kids Go has confirmed two wheelchair skills training sessions in Sheffield on Sunday 16th January 2022, taking place at Handsworth Grange Community College on Handsworth Grange Road, S13 9JH. The first is from 10am to noon and the second from 12.30-2.30pm.

During the sessions trainers work with between one and four families at a time, focussing on the young person’s wheelchair skills enabling them to be as independent as possible. Extra wheelchairs will be provided for family members to join in, though some social distancing measures will be in place to keep everyone safe.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
