The name’s the game when it comes to making sure people with long-term health problems stay as fit as possible – And you can help pick a new moniker for a scheme promoting this, making it a moving experience.
The National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine Sheffield and Sheffield City Council are redesigning the Sheffield Physical Activity Referrals Scheme (Spars) following a review of the scheme and co-production process.
The next phase will involve developing a plan to promote and enhance awareness of the scheme, which is designed to help people with long term health conditions increase their physical activity levels. As part of this, they have reviewed the name and branding of the scheme to ensure it aligns with the aim of the new model, which are to:
- Connect people to support that best meets their individual needs, to enable them to be active in a way that’s right for them.
- Provide health professionals with a tool to refer or signpost people to physical activity support, as part of their routine practice.
- Allow individuals to access a range of physical activity options depending on their needs and preferences, offered by a variety of providers, in a variety of locations and formats.
Although this process revealed benefits to retaining the current name SPARS, feedback was received saying that the current name doesn’t fully align with the objectives of the redesigned scheme.
During the co-production workshops, service users and members of the public fed back that words move and movement resonate more than physical activity or exercise, and they suggested names that focused more on health and wellbeing.
To decide the future name of the scheme, they are putting these options to a public vote, which will close on Sunday 14th July
The 3 potential names are:
- Move Well
- Make Your Move
- Get Moving Sheffield.
