Voices on the Cost of Living will be Heard

Voices on the Cost of Living will be Heard

Following a successful funding application for South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation Cost of Living Grant, our self advocacy group for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, Sheffield Voices will be facilitating two Cost of Living outreach sessions, one in the North side of the city and one in the South.

The sessions will focus on helping people to save money on food, heating and other bills and will:

  • Give information about the cost of living and how they can help themselves in an accessible format.
  • Listen to their concerns about the cost of living.
  • Produce easy read resources to share in our networks.
  • Give information about place to eat and get food, cooked or uncooked, that is very cheap or free.
  • Connect people with each other and Sheffield Voices so we can connect them to other services.
  • Give people advice and information on how they can save money, keep warm and cook meals for less helping them to prepare for winter 2023/24 and further cuts.

There will also be four group sessions held in community spaces such as ZEST and Sharrow Foodworks.

More information will be available soon so watch this space and Sheffield Voices website, Facebook page and social media.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
