The 2017 Power 100 List of Britain's Most Influential Disabled People

Shaw Trust have once again sponsored the Power 100 List, a celebration of Britain’s most influential persons with a disability or impairment.

Chaired by Baroness Carys “Tanni” Grey-Thompson, Crossbench Peer, campaigner and Paralympic legend, this year’s independent judging panel for the Power 100 List included Gemma Hope – Head of Policy, Research and Communication at Shaw Trust and Clare Gray – Disability Advocacy Adviser at Shaw Trust.

With over 10 million disabled people in Britain, everyone has their own inspirational, personal story of overcoming barriers to succeed. As such the judges described compiling the list as an “almost impossible task.”

Minister for Disabled People, Justin Tomlinson MP,said

“This list is full of powerful, inspirational figures from across the UK’s top industries, and highlights how many disabled people hold prominent and influential roles in our society. This is great news and I hope that their example will further change how people and businesses view disability.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
