The MS Society, which researches and campaigns for those affected by the neurological disorder multiple sclerosis, has launched two surveys to find out the views of people who have it and also their families and friends.
There are around 100,000 in Britain with the condition – which affects a person’s nervous system in a variety of ways – and every year there are around 5,000 new diagnoses.
The first survey is entitled My MS My Needs and intends to find out about the lifestyles and problems faced by those with MS. It is the third time such a survey has been held and knowledge gained will fuel campaigns for fair, relevant policy and improved healthcare for people living with MS in the UK.
This year, for the first time, there is also an MS Family and Friends survey, intended to find out about the care and support these people give and how the society assures it can be improved.
