Support For Women Survivors of Depression

Support For Women Survivors of Depression

Women experiencing mental illness across Sheffield & South Yorkshire can say SODIT – by joining an organisation for Survivors Of Depression In Transition, aiming to help them move on.

SODIT provides support services like a self-help (peer) group made up of women who have personal experience of the same issue or life situation , facilitates counselling services and offers creative courses.

Their next peer support group starts on 23 March. View Poster

They say: “It can provide a supportive, informal environment where people can share their fears, worries and ways of coping with their depression. You will hear how each person’s experience is different but will also see that there is a common thread running through each other’s feelings and symptoms. This will allow you to support others as well as getting support for yourself.

“Coping with depression & mental illness can be a long and difficult journey but at least you’ll know you are NOT alone,” they add.

You can find out more in SODIT’s service booklet. You can also telephone them on 0114 2795970, email info@sodit.org or look at their website.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
