A Sheffield-based legal firm has launched a campaign to ensure disabled people get priority online shopping places.
Fry Law, based at the Globe Works on Penistone Road, recently won a case taken against Tesco on behalf of a housebound woman who had been unable to secure a slot for her shopping. She accused the supermarket of breaching the Equality Act 2010 for not making reasonable adjustments.
A further 318 people sent claims to all of the UK’s major supermarkets for breaching the Act and Tesco has now agreed to put them all on its priority list.
Now the law firm is asking other disabled people to tell their stories of difficulties getting their shopping and join in a co-ordinated action. Their statement says: “We are confident that a legal challenge against supermarkets failing to make reasonable adjustments would be successful. On that basis, we are prepared to formally represent those of you who meet the criteria on a no win no fee basis.”
If you have been in this position you can fill in their form, which asks for details of your experiences, and send to enquiries@frylaw.co.uk, adding your surname and date of birth in the subject heading.
They would also like to ensure people that the covid-19 crisis does not affect your legal rights.
