Still Time to Write to your MP about Benefit Cuts

Still Time to Write to your MP about Benefit Cuts

As we’ve previously reported many disability charities and disabled people’s organisations are offering guidance and resources on the government’s proposed reform of the benefits system and the Green Paper consultation , which closes on 30th June 2025.

Inclusion London, a leading disabled people’s user led organisation is urging ‘Act Now, Speak Up, Fight Cuts by writing to your MP’ .

If you’re directly affected or if you want to write ‘in solidarity’ you can use their letter templates to ask your MP to protect Disabled people from harmful cuts to vital benefits. Sharing your personal story can make a more significant impact by including your experiences or explaining why this issue personally matters to you.

We have received some statistics on the predicted impacts, if changes to disability benefits go ahead in full. This is broken down by each MP’s constituency , giving a great tool to write a more compelling letter, or a chance to write another one.

If you would like to have these statistics email consultations@disabilitysheffield.org.uk including which constituency you live in and we will send you the relevant info and any other follow up.

As a reminder, the more you write your own feelings and concerns about the proposed cuts and how they will affect you, the more weight it is likely to have compared with copy and pasted text.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
