Smokers in Sheffield Encouraged to 'Quit for Covid'

Smokefree Sheffield are encouraging smokers in Sheffield to Quit for Covid.

“Smokers are at increased risk from COVID-19” the organisation explains, “because many smokers already present with poor respiratory health and smoking-related diseases caused by years of smoking.”

“Smoking harms the immune system, reducing the body’s natural protection against infections, like Coronavirus.”

Smokers are therefore at greater risk of getting acute respiratory infections, having an infection last longer and that infection being more serious than it would be for someone who does not smoke.

Therefore it is a very important time for smokers to quit and reduce their harm from tobacco.

You can get expert support to help you to quit smoking at the Smokefree Sheffield Support Page. You can read more about the Quit for Covid campaign on the Smokefree Sheffield Quit for Covid page.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
