Sign Will's Petition for Disabled Access in the High Street

Will Pike was injured during the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai and is now paralysed below the waist.

Will is campaigning to change the face of the high street and make it a more welcoming and accessible place for everyone. His film highlights the fact that too many shops and restaurants are off limits to wheelchair users.

Please sign his petition demanding that the two major high street chains featured in his film (Café Nero and American Apparel) install better disabled access into their outlets. A copy of the petition will also be sent to The Equality and Human Rights Commission ( EHRC ) to ask them to pursue the issue with these companies. He wants the EHRC to play a much more active role in enforcing compliance with the Equality Act by investigating companies and using its enforcement powers, including taking them to court if necessary, to ensure they make their buildings as accessible as possible.

You can view Will’s film and sign his petition here .

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
