All of the inspiring women on the list were born or live in Sheffield.

Alongside athletes such as Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Grace Clough MBE, Paralympic Gold medallist and double world champion and the first Briton in Space, Dr Helen Sharman OBE are ( amongst others ):

Ellie Simpson, creator CP Teens UK, helping young people with cerebal palsy ( pictured ) .

Flat Friends UK – Sheffield and South Yorkshire, charity supporting women living with mastectomy and without reconstruction.

and Professor Dame Pamela Shaw, Professor of Neurology, University of Sheffield, researcher in motor neurone function.

Congratulations to these women who inspire us all. Do you have anyone you’d like to nominate? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to nominate for next year by contacting Sheffield Council @sheffcouncil on Twitter.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
