The Launchpad Project, designed to help adults with learning disabilities and/or autism develop skills in drama and performance, is back and looking for new recruits.
Organised by Sheffield Theatres, it gives participants the opportunity to work with professionals to develop their performance skills and devise a performance all of their own. They will take part in weekly workshops building skills in areas such as improvisation, storytelling and movement and work together to create a performance for the Crucible Studio theatre.
Sheffield Theatres hold workshop-style auditions, allowing the organisers to get to know the participants, play some games and introduce them to the work done at the theatres. It also allows for an informal and relaxed environment for participants to meet up and be introduced to the Crucible environment. There is no need to prepare anything in advance, just come ready to have some fun!
The workshops run weekly from Thursday 4 April – Thursday 8 July, before a week of intense rehearsals for the performance from Monday 22 – Thursday 25 July, and performances in the Studio Theatre on Friday 26 July.
