A year on from the introduction of the Care Act Independent Age has published a report on its impact on older people and their families looking at 3 specific areas:
Information and advice provision
Older people’s and carers’ experience of assessments
Families’ experience of paying care home top-up fees
The report suggests that while the Care Act and guidance is clear about what local authorities need to be doing to meet their obligations, many local authorities are failing to demonstrate that they are following all of the new rules. As a result, they are compromising the delivery of care and support to older people. View report.
