Pride in Sheffield

There is a new Pride committee elected by the community to deliver Pride in 2019 for the community in Sheffield.

The committee says it is dedicated to ‘delivering a great pride for the community, working with local and national LGBTQ+, BAME & Trans community groups, partners and sponsors to deliver a great event for the community’.

They say their the aim is to ‘make Pride as representative as possible of the entire community, ensuring that the protest is not removed from the day but is embraced by all as a way to bring the struggles of those who live in countries where they are persecuted for who they love or how they express their gender.

Disability Sheffield are proud to support Pride and to promote the event amongst disabled people in the city, spreading the word of love and equality.

To this end the pride committee is setting up an ‘action group’ that will look at making Pride the most accessible and inclusive yet. If you would like to take part or become a member of this action group with the Pride committee please contact the Pride in Sheffield Accessibility Officer who can tell you a little bit more about their aims and objectives. Please email Yosh Kosminsky accessibility@prideinsheffield.net to register your interest.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
