Personal Health Budgets : Treat or Treatment?

In response to recent press reports concerning the use and suggested misuse of NHS resources for Personal Health Budgets, Disability Rights UK ( DRUK ) calls for greater investment in support for those with long term health conditions, not less. DRUK states “Personal Health Budgets do something critically important. They offer a way forward for people with long-term conditions: a personal plan to enable them to manage their own condition and their life. The evaluation of personal health budgets has shown that this imaginative approach is cost effective and a good use of public money. We encourage clinicians to get involved in this vital transformation (as many are already doing) and help create empowering support for millions of people – rather than criticising it.” View full article . When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
