Passenger Assistance Card For Supertram Users

Passenger Assistance Card For Supertram Users

Disabled passengers on Sheffield and Rotherham’s Supertram now have the option of downloading and printing cards that let staff know that they may require assistance and what sort of help is needed.

The Passenger Assistance Cards contain a message saying ‘please be patient’ or include a selection of options such as stating that the user is deaf, has a visual impairment or has difficulty communicating or has hidden disabilities. There is also a card which includes the option for the passenger to fill in details of their own disabilities and others asking for their change to be counted or pass to be scanned. The cards are available in colour or black and white versions.

The card is part of Supertram’s bid to make sure their vehicles and routes are as accessible as possible for all customers. Tram stops have two types of tactile paving to help customers find the tram doors and make out the platform edge. There are also shallow approach ramps and paving, coloured differently, to show safe and unsafe areas.

At some tram stops, the highway itself has been lowered to help customers board the tram more easily. All their vehicles are wheelchair accessible although customers using mobility scooters will require a permit to travel.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
